I work at a minimum wage job and I know the struggle of the low income class. I will fight for the

small man and the working class to get a fair stake in our society.

LIST OF ISSUES

Infrastructure

It is no secret that Michigan's infrastructure is in need of repair and innovation. As a representative I plan on fighting for legislation to get money directly to our roads, bridges, water systems, and electric/telephone lines.

I propose that every spring the roads be repaved all over the state with no exceptions or excuses for roads staying broken all year round, and in the winter we should be focused on plowing the snow and not just throwing salt down and calling it a day.

For too long, Michigan residents have been neglected in the winter. This must change. All roads must be cleared, so they are safe to drive and so that no one is unable to get to work because the state feels like they are not worth the money to pay attention to.

Reducing the amount of salt on the roads will reduce damage since salt soaks up the moisture and makes the roads easier to crack. Bridges also need to be fixed if they are at risk. It is unacceptable to do otherwise.

 Water Systems

We must make fixing the water pipes our number one priority. No one in Michigan should have to go without clean water. Everything else can wait! I will demand that appropriate funding is allocated for construction of new clean pipes. Sitting back and letting the crisis go unsolved is basically negligent homicide no matter how you look at it!

 Electric and Phone Lines

I will propose putting the power cables and phone cables underground. That will make sure that the lights stay on regardless of outside weather. If we do this, not only will we finally be able to say goodbye to power outages, but you will also be able to say goodbye to those ugly power lines that hang above our towns and cities.

 Flooding

We must fix our drainage system so that we can prevent flooding in roads and houses. There is no excuse in 2020 for a rain storm to cause flooding. We can and will do better!

School Choice

I believe that all children should have the right to go to a good school and that a child's zip code should not be the determining factor in whether they go to a rich school or a poor school, so I will propose giving parents the right to choose where their child goes to school. As long as they can get their child to the school the child should be admitted.

Funding

Schools should be funded on the state level with a statewide property tax that divides up the funds equally. Currently rich areas have better schools than poor areas due to funding at the local level. This has to change, so I will propose legislation to make all public school funding based off of state property tax instead of local.

School lunch

All children who have parents on welfare should have the option year round of a free school lunch. This is why I want to propose having school cafeterias open 365 days a year, so that the kids who's only meal comes from school will not have to wonder if they will go hungry during the summer and during school breaks.

Free community college or Trade School

I will propose legislation to make community college and trade schools free for all students whose parents make less than 100K a year. Money should never be the reason someone is unable to continue their education

Environment

As representative I will fight for starting the transition to a fully green Michigan. I think we should create Jobs by investing into wind, solar and water power. Not only is it better for the environment, but it offers new job opportunities for Michiganders. We should be transitioning from coal and helping those who work in the industry transition to healthier, safer and more sustainable work in the new green energy industry.

The process will be long, and we won't abandon fossil fuel this year, next year, probably for several years. However, now is a great time to start preparing!

Gun Safety

  • Assault Weapons ban

  • Safe Travel- Require guns to be unloaded while traveling

  • Guns must be kept out of the hands of children 18 and under or until graduated HS

  • Comprehensive Mental Health Care reform with an emphasis on suicide prevention and increasing access and availability of support and counselling.

  • Create a State funded suicide prevention task force to have small groups of mental health professionals go around the state providing free counseling, mental health evaluations, and support.

  • Create education subsidies and grants for those pursuing careers in the mental health field that agree to spend a designated time after graduation working in rural communities. There are similar programs for medical doctors.

  • Launch a comprehensive state study of common psychological drugs to determine potential risks for violent behavior associated with their use.

  • Create a state program to temporarily surrender your firearms at any police station for 72 hours.

  • Implement a national counseling app produced by the Michigan Department of Education, for students K through 12 as well as College, that provides counseling resources including face to face tele-counseling to provide nationwide counseling resources for all students.

  • State Tax credits for gun safes and annual gun safety courses.

  • Real gun safety education elective courses in high school, like drivers ed.

  • Apply a 20% tax rate on Marijuana, Alcohol and Tobacco with all tax revenues marked for education in the zip code collected.

  • Create a state work program focused on rebuilding the crumbling infrastructure in America with a recruiting campaign targeting low income high crime areas.

  • State mandate all uniformed peace officers and agents to have an active body cam during working hours.

  • Create a State task force to independently investigate all police shootings and determine their validity.

  • Enact and enforce mandatory minimums, 10 year per gun and 1 year per bullet, for all prohibited persons found guilty of committing a property or violent crime with an illegally possessed firearms unless they cooperate with investigators to identify and testify against who supplied them the illegal guns and ammunition.

  • Create a multi agency task force to target known gang members for tax evasion through the State revenue service.

Healthcare

I plan on fighting for a public option for all of Michigan, the public option would include tax payer funded healthcare for Medical, Vision and Dental non-elective services. Cutting out the middleman that is private insurance will lower the costs of medical treatment for all Michiganders. I will fight for the government to require that the cost of prescription drugs be no higher than the cost in Canada.

Private insurance will NOT be prohibited. You will still be able to keep your private insurance provider if you choose.

Even if Washington refuses to join the rest of industrialized world in making healthcare a right does not mean Michigan can't lead the way in America.

StateWide Internet

Just like Water, Electricity, Access to internet, is the next evolution. The internet is no longer something people just use for fun. It is now needed to apply for many jobs, do school work, complete office work and so much more. I am proposing the creation of a state owned internet service for those in Michigan who do not have access to high speed internet.

Workers Rights

I will fight for the following

-10 days paid leave.

-Paid Maternity leave for 6 months from all businesses with more than 100 employees.

-The right to join a Union without being able to be fired.

-Require a reason for being fired.

-8 Hour maximum work day

-$15 Minimum wage

Electoral Reform

Ranked Choice Voting

I am proposing Michigan switch to ranked choice voting state wide. This allows for voters to rank the candidates by most to least favorable. If no candidate gets a majority on the first round then the last placed first choice is eliminated. Their votes are then transferred to the remaining candidates based on who the was marked second highest on the ballot. This continues until one candidate reaches a majority.

Automatic Voter Registration

Every person in Michigan should be registered to vote once they turn 18.

Voting Holiday

I am proposing making election days paid holidays off for all non emergency workers.

Total ban on Gerrymandering!

Propose a Constitutional Amendment to make one legslative house elected based on proportional representation.

Criminal Justice

-Decriminalise Drugs

-Rehab for addicts, not prison

-Blind Justice- Prevent jurors from knowing the race or gender of the criminal unless it is relevant to the case.

Campaign Finance Reform

I am proposing limiting candidates to $1,000 per month per person in donations.

Abortion

Unrestricted until week 20

Allowed after week 20 if the mother's life is at risk, in cases of rape, or other serious health complications.

LGBT Rights

-Ban the refusal of medical treatment to transgender patients and have a right to supportive Doctor.

-Total ban on LGBT discrimination in the public or private sector.

-Ban the Panic Defense for all violent crimes against members of the LGBT community.

-Ban Conversion Therapy

- Teach comprehensive sex ed both Heterosexual and Homosexual.

Universal Housing

Create public housing united to house the homeless with jobs training. Including those who live in vehicles and those  in domestic abuse situations who can not afford to move out.
